European legislation aimed at doubling Europe's market share of semiconductors to 20% by 2030. The European Chips Act became law in 2023 and is divided into three pillars. Pillar I is building the necessary chip fabs. Pillar II is adding foundries and maintaining a secure supply chain for the entire ecosystem. Pillar III provides the monitoring and emergency powers to restore shortages. See
