Definition: Ethernet DIA

(Ethernet Dedicated Internet Access) A 1 or 10 Gbps Ethernet connection direct to the Internet from a company's internal network. Instead of coupling an Ethernet LAN to T1, T3, frame relay, ATM or MPLS networks for external access, Ethernet DIA reduces complexity by providing the same technology from the local network all the way to an Internet backbone. See Ethernet, T1, T3, frame relay, ATM and MPLS.
