Definition: Ethereum Layer 2 network

A secondary network to Ethereum that is used for faster transaction processing and especially much lower fees. Periodically, summaries of transactions from Layer 2 are recorded on Ethereum. For details, see Ethereum and Layer 2 blockchain.
