Definition: Essential Phone

An earlier Android smartphone from Essential Products founded by Andy Rubin, the original developer of the Android operating system. Announced in 2017, the Essential Phone was "pure Android" with a 5.7" edge-to-edge screen, titanium case and 128GB of storage. A wireless charging dock was an option. The device accepted add-on functionality by magnetic attachment and was available from the Essential website. In early 2020, the company ceased operations. See pure Android and Android.
