Definition: EchoLink

(1) Using voice over IP (VoIP) over the Internet to connect licensed amateur radio stations (ham radios) to each other around the world. Developed in 2002 by Jonathan Taylor, EchoLink greatly extends the reach of ham operators. Only licensed radio operators are authorized to use the software. See ham.

(2) (Echo Link) An Amazon device that connects an Amazon Echo to a stereo system to control streaming music playback. Users verbally command Alexa to play music over the Link. Output from a CD player, amplified turntable or other music source can plug directly into the Link's optical and RCA inputs. After setting up the Link via Wi-Fi, it can be cabled to the home network via Ethernet. See Amazon Echo.
