Definition: Dolby Volume

An audio circuit from Dolby that keeps volume at a consistent level across all TV channels and within the channel. Designed for inclusion in TVs, DVDs and A/V receivers, it prevents commercials from blaring in the middle of a TV program, and it equalizes the volume between different channels. In addition, for late night viewing at lower volume, Dolby Volume lets loud passages retain their impact while keeping voices clear. See Dolby.
