Definition: DOS/Windows


(1) Commands and functions that work equally in DOS and Windows. DOS was the underlying control program for the early versions of Windows, and most all the DOS functionality was built into later versions of Windows.

(2) A PC computer environment that uses DOS or Windows in contrast with Mac or Unix.

(3) The earlier DOS and Windows 3.1 environment, in contrast with Windows 95 and higher versions.
