Definition: Crypto.com


A Singapore-based crypto exchange founded in 2016. Within six years, Crypto.com had 50 million users. Customers use Crypto.com's non-custodial mobile wallet, which they control, to buy and sell 200+ crypto assets. Crypto can be sent to other Crypto.com users without fees, and tokens (CRO) are earned making purchases with Crypto.com's prepaid Visa card funded by bank transfers, credit/debit cards or crypto. Crypto.com made headlines in 2021 when it agreed to pay $700 million to acquire 20-year naming rights to the nearly one-million square foot Staples Center stadium in Los Angeles. Staples Center, which opened in 1999, is the home of the Lakers and Clippers basketball teams.
