A centralized cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2014 by Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo and Samuel Reed. In 2016, BitMEX added perpetual futures, which have no expiration date. In 2020, the exchange's founders were charged with violations of the U.S. Bank Secrecy Act, culminating in fines and probation. However, in 2025, the Trump administration pardoned both the founders and the exchange itself, the first time a pardon was granted to a company. See crypto exchange.
