Definition: BiCMOS

(BIpolar-CMOS) An integrated circuit that uses both bipolar and CMOS transistors. For example, the logic gates would be primarily CMOS, but output stages might use bipolar junction transistors (BJTs). Bipolar transistors handle higher current and therefore dissipate more heat, but they tend to switch faster. BicMOS circuits are commonly found in analog devices. See bipolar and MOSFET.
