Definition: Basecamp
A Web-based project management and collaboration system from Basecamp, introduced in 2004. Along with a project calendar, Basecamp keeps discussions, to-do lists, documents and related files organized by projects that everyone can access. Basecamp was originally founded in 1999 as 37signals and developed Ruby on Rails and other open-source software. The company's founders Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson have also written best-selling books on telecommuting and project management, including REWORK, REMOTE and Getting Real.
