A 3D sound format from Auro Technologies, founded in 2010 at Galaxy Studios, Mol, Belgium. A departure from existing surround audio formats, Auro-3D features a "Height Layer," whereby recordings are made in vertical levels. Geared to all forms of listening, including cinema, home theater, gaming, mobile and automotive, Auro-3D encodes the Auro-3D audio mix as 5.1 PCM streams, which can then be decoded to 9.1 or 11.1 channels or whichever speaker format the content was mixed for.
Auro-3D tools are available that convert legacy, mono, stereo and surround sound content into Auro. For more information, visit www.auro-3d.com. See surround sound
