Introduced in 2017, Apple TV 4K was the first Apple media hub to support 2160p resolution. Ethernet was upgraded to Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI jumped from Version 1.4 to 2.0a. The second and third 4K models came out in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
The Official Hub Name
In late 2025, Apple renamed its streaming service from Apple TV+ to Apple TV, which was the original name of Apple's digital media hub. The hub was renamed Apple TV 4K. See
