Definition: Amazon Go

Amazon's no-checkout grocery store. Using computer vision, artificial intelligence (AI) and sensors, customers must have the Amazon Go app installed in their phones. The app is used to enter the store but can remain in the user's pocket or purse thereafter. Merchandise is automatically scanned when removed from the shelf and again when put back on the shelf if people change their mind. When finished shopping, customers just walk out the door, and purchases are added up and charged to their account automatically. There are no cash registers and no lines.

Amazon Closed Eight Go Stores
In early 2023, Amazon announced imminent closing of eight locations in Seattle, San Francisco and New York. Some 20 stores will remain open in the U.S. and U.K. See Amazon Dash Cart and Amazon.com.
