Definition: AOSP


(Android Open Source Platform) The operating system that Android hardware vendors use to create the OS in their devices. AOSP is commonly used with Google Mobile Services (GMS), which is the bundle of apps that are included in most Androids. AOSP provides the official foundation code and guidelines for vendors to develop the Android OS for their hardware. However, they can make their own modifications such as changes to the user interface. See Android.
