Definition: AIFF-C

An AIFF audio file format that supports different compression methods. Another AIFF-C variant, known as "AIFF-C/sowt" uses the Intel byte order rather than the PowerPC byte order. The "sowt" stands for "twos" in reverse (see byte order). Mac audio files prior to Apple's conversion to Intel CPUs may require conversion. See AIFF and Intel Mac.
