Definition: AI virus

A virus generated by AI. Compared to all cellular life, viruses are much simpler and in 2026, researchers at Stanford University and Arc Institute (biomedical research) used the Evo biological foundation model trained on billions of genetic sequences to generate new DNA molecules. Out of the 700,000 molecules generated, 300 were recreated in the lab but only 16 proved capable of killing their bacterial hosts.

Perhaps Overblown
Although alarming, it is very difficult to create complex genomes in this manner. Researchers suggested creating a deadly virus "by hand" would be easier. Nevertheless, this was only the beginning. Stay tuned!
