Definition: AI toys for kids

AI-enhanced toys for kids. Toys with interactive features appeared in the late 1990s; for example, Furby was the first popular toy that could learn words. However, toys with AI in their name began to appear after ChatGPT stunned the world in 2022. Today there are countless AI-powered toys for children. See ChatGPT and social robot.

The Original Furby
Launched in 1998, millions of Furbies were sold because it was one of the first toys to communicate with children, initially speaking only "Furbish" and gradually learning English. (Image courtesy of the Official Furby Wiki, a Fandom Lifestyle Community.)

AI in the Title
Puff (top) and Alilo (bottom) are contemporary toys for kids. Both brands mention using the GPT AI model and Alilo advertises GPT on the box cover (see GPT). (Images courtesy of Amazon.com, QQCHGOL and Alilo USA.)
