Definition: 4K 3D TV

A 3D TV with 2,160 lines of resolution (2160p). Introduced in 2012, these 3D TVs use the polarized 3D method and create the stereoscopic frames by interlacing the lines of resolution with different polarizations. See 3D TV.

The Full Resolution to Each Eye
Because the frames are interlaced, a regular 2K passive 3D TV set (1080p) provides half the resolution to each eye (540p). A 4K 3D TV with 2160p resolution delivers the full 1080p to each eye. See polarized 3D, 4K TV, 3D visualization and 3D rendering.
