An entry-level iPhone introduced in March 2016. The "special edition" (SE) model used the same A9 CPU and graphics processor as the iPhone 6s but with a smaller 4" screen. The SE is essentially an iPhone 6s in a 5s footprint for people who prefer a smaller phone. See

Second-Generation SE
In 2020, Apple debuted the SE again in the body of the iPhone 8 with a more up-to-date A13 CPU and advanced camera system. The screen is 4.7" in this 2G model. In 2020, the SE is expected to be replaced with the iPhone 12 mini. See
